We are fascinated by the idea of Time travel since, movies, and books enthralled us to imagine things. Is Time travel just a fragment of our imagination?

Is Time travel possible?

Yes and no, but let’s see theories that explain both the answers and why.

Some scientists say it is impossible to time travel since we can’t separate time and space and we are unable to compete with light speed.

According to scientists, Universe is expanding since the big bang, and so is time and space. The fabric of space-time is expanding while the stars stay put.

Muller says; spacetime is expanding. And we are surfing the crest of that wave, what we call “now.”

Because the future doesn’t yet exist, we can’t travel into the future, he asserts

Richard Muller, Us Berkely, Physicist says, if we have to have time travel, we have to destroy some space and time, that are bound together, which seems impossible.

While other scientists say it may be possible in near future.

How it May be possible?

Einstein discovered the General relativity theory (E = mc²), where time is explained, but how it keeps flowing, is still not determined. This equation explains energy on earth, why stars shine, why galaxies light up, etc.

But he stated that we have a speed limit, nothing can travel faster than the speed of light (186,000 miles per second i.e 299337.984 km per second).

“The best evidence we have that time travel is not possible, and never will be, is that we have not been invaded by hordes of tourists from the future.”- Stephan Hawking.

Einstein proposed that time travel can be achieved by going through the speed of light in a wormhole.

Since Einstein, many scientists, have discovered forces, like gravity by Isaac Newton which revolutionized the groundwork for industries, Electromagnetic force was united by Maxwell for electricity and Faraday for Magnetism which led to the electric Revolution, and Einstein's theory of E = mc² led to nuclear forces. Every time forces were discovered, they changed human history.

And putting these forces (Gravitational force, Electromagnetic force, Strong force, Weak force) together gives us the theory of everything, which explains a lot of things happening in this universe.

The Theory of Everything also explains the time travel, in theory, Multiverse, Wormhole, the universe before the big bang, parallel universe, etc.

In practice, it may not be proven yet, but the equation shows it may be possible. This String theory ( The theory of Everything ) has a lot of controversies, as to whether the theory is right for the equation explaining the universe. It is right mathematically as 2 + 2 = 4.

Time-traveling in the future

A Russian Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev spends 803 days orbiting around the earth. The time dilation caused by his orbital motion means that Krikalev is 0.02 seconds younger than other people born at the same time on the earth. The time mentioned is insignificant, but it does magnify the chances of traveling to the future.

Here again, the speed of light comes into the matter, as scientists say that if a person in space travel at 90% of the speed of light at a certain distance and return, you can visit the year 3000 while aging only 10 years.

With the help of the right technology, Traveling 90% of light speed may seem possible but not today.

Time-Traveling in the past

Traveling in the past can be a tricky concept, as according to theory if we travel at the speed of light, it could be possible.

Let us go more into details.

Einstein believes that when the wormhole is created or discovered, where the one can pass through at the speed of light, a visit to the past can be possible.

For that to happen, the spacetime line has to be bent, and connecting the space-time is a wormhole that can be used to travel.

But here contains a grandfather theory, if you visit the past and killed your grandfather, will still have existed, and in a matter of seconds, that be changed.

With this in mind, and as the string theory gives the possibility of this happening, there is a parallel universe, where you might have killed someone else’s grandfather and not yours. In a multiverse parallel, the universe can be found and evidence of a multiverse is found in Quantum Mechanics, where the location of atomic particles cannot be found, thus assuming that they could be in multiple locations.

There are many theories regarding Multiverse:

· Bubble: Where the universe is separated from one another in form of a bubble, our universe is one of the bubbles, in space.

· Perfect Image: Where the same events, our same anatomy, our twins can be present in another universe.

· This may not be Real-world Multiverse, as may others.

· Other Universes may require different elements to live, or have different rules to mathematical formulae, or may be very advance or not.

There is the Blackhole theory, where at the center of the black hole the spinning is portal to time travel as it is known to retrieve any information which passes through it, so some scientists believe that that could be our wormhole, but we haven’t developed that kind of technology yet to prove anything.

Conclusion

So, Time travel may be possible, but it might not be the way you think.

There is still so much we don’t know and the String theory is our best assumption right now, which is mathematically correct unless we change the complete rules of maths.
